Russian Navy Contracted Building of Second Katran-Class Boat

JSC Moscow Shipbuilding and Ship Repair Plant signed a contract for construction of Project 21770 Katran general service launch (serial number 093) with JSC Zvezdochka shipyard, reported press service of United Shipbuilding Corporation.

It will be the second general service launch to be built by the Moscow shipyard for Russian Navy.

The project was developed by JSC Almaz Central Design Bureau. Katran-class boats are used for maintaining everyday activities of a mother ship anchored off harbor or at naval base.

Dimensions of the boat make possible to transport her by sea, road, railway, or air. Such boat can be piloted in all navigable waters inland.

beam – 3.32 meters
draft – 0.67 meters
speed – 32 knots
fuel range – 100 miles
endurance – 1 day
crew – 2 men
propulsion – 2 x 232 kW diesel generators
