According to investigators, the spy scheme was kicked off in 2008. The suspected persons were setting up for civilian entrepreneurs, reports Lenta.ru referring to Associated Press.
Being under strict governmental control, microelectronics was allegedly delivered to Russian intelligence and military organizations.
Recall that in Jan 2012 Canadian naval officer Jeffrey Delisle was arrested on the charge of espionage for Russia. Reportedly he could have spilled secrets of Australia, Great Britain, and the US. Referring to sources in Canadian security agencies, media reported that Delisle had transferred to Russia radio intelligence data and important codes used by special agencies of Canada and the other three countries. Canada expelled four Russian diplomats after arrest of Delisle.
