Hydroplane Be-12 Fell Due to Engine Failure

When landing on the Kacha airfield after training flight near Sevastopol, pilot in command notified a flight control officer that he was going around. Then the airplane's left engine accidentally packed up, and Be-12 began stalling with left lurch. The hydroplane fell down near the runway, turned over and inflamed, said a source in Russian security agencies.
BSF Commander RADM Alexander Fedotenkov declared October 14 a day of mourning for pilots died in the air accident.
Russian defense ministry suspended all flights of Be-12 aircraft. The ban will be in effect until causes of the tragedy are revealed. The crashed airplane had been in service at Black Sea Fleet for over 30 years.
Recall that the BSF hydroplane Be-12 crashed in the evening of Oct 12 when landing the Kacha airfield in Crimea. Three crewmembers died. Radio operator sitting in the tail survived and is currently in the Sevastopol military hospital. Doctors say his health state is stable, nothing threats to his life.
A criminal case was initiated on the basis of Article 351, Russian Criminal Code ("violation of flight rules and pre-flight regulations").
