During the Euronaval-2012 international exhibition, Russian state-led arms exporter JSC Rosoboronexport and Spanish shipbuilder Navantia tied an agreement which provides equipping of Spanish Avante-class patrol craft with Russian weapons for further export to third countries, reports RIA Novosti referring to a spokesman for Rosoboronexport.

According to him, "this agreement was signed with a view to consider whether it is possible to put Russian weapons on Avante-class patrol ships developed and marketed by Navantia".

The source specified that "both companies will work on joint product: Russian arms systems and components will be mounted on ship platforms built by Navantia for further export only to third countries".
