Criminal investigation of a naval mariner died in Vilyuchinsk, Kamchatka as a result of car runover done by another serviceman, Capt 2 Rank Pavel Babyak, is drawing towards completion, a local procuracy told .

Recall that the happened in Sept 2012 at Bogatyrevka Bay, Pacific Ocean where Pavel Babyak and his colleague Igor M. were picnicking. According to eyewitnesses, that was where the two men quarreled. Finally, Babyak got into his private car and ran over his colleague several times. Eyewitnesses said tire marks were even on his face.
Igor M. died of injuries several hours later. A criminal case was initiated and handed over to Vilyuchinsk military procuracy. Pavel Babyak was not taken into custody; he only gave a written undertaking not to leave and was left at large.
Babyak has been serving in Vilyuchinsk since 1989 and is executive officer of a nuclear-powered ballistic missile submarine. The investigation of the criminal case evoked a wide response in the closed military garrison (nuclear submarine base at Kamchatka), but slightly affected everyday life of Capt 2 Rank Pavel Babyak. He was taking treatments in a military hospital at Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky early in the fall.
As was told at military procuracy, investigators are expecting results of a forensic examination. Both parties will be allowed to learn the results, the suspected person and relatives of the killed officer. After that, the case will be submitted to court.
Relatives of Igor M. have video record made by Babyak's dashboard camera. That video contains many things happened at the incident site. According to the relatives, the evidence was handed over to investigators for further attachment to the case.
