Project 22010 oceanographic ship with unlimited operational zone was put afloat today at Yantar Shipyard in Kaliningrad, reports Business-TASS.

"Lead oceanographic ship being built by Yantar shipyard under crucially new Project 22010 is designed for deep-water researches of the World Ocean and its bottom", said the yard's press secretary Mr. Mikhailov.

Project 22010 was developed by the Almaz Design Bureau and comprises latest innovations of Russian scientists. The ship's displacement is 5,200 tons, length is 108.1 meters, beam is 17.2 meters.

Yantar shipyard concluded the contract for the ship's construction with Russian defense ministry's deep-sea research department in Feb 2009. The ship was laid down on 8 July 2010, on the 65-th anniversary of Yantar and was named after the shipyard.
