Corvette Boiky Undergoes Degaussing

Passing the shipyard's trials, corvette Boiky has been placed in a special basin at Severnaya Verf shipyard to undergo degaussing, a source in shipbuilding industry told Central Navy Portal.

The ship took sea for the first stage of the shipyard's trials on Sept 25, 2012 without gun mount A-190-01.

As of today, the gun mount has not been planted, a spokesman of JSC Arsenal Machine-Building Plant told Central Navy Portal. "Within the next few days the gun mount will be delivered to Severnaya Verf and mounted onboard the corvette. That is our advanced 100-mm gun, now they are assembled by the Burevestnik plant in Nizhny Novgorod. All efforts of our company will be focused on creation of the new 130-mm gun mount Kartaun for frigate Admiral Gorshkov", the spokesman said.

According to the source in shipbuilding industry, "if they mount the gun on Boiky promptly, the corvette would be probably transferred to Baltiysk to continue shipyard's trials".

First stage of the yard's trials finished late in Nov 2012, and the ship returned to the outfitting quay. According to unverified information, when mooring at Kronshtadt, Boiky ship set on the neighboring oceanographic ship Admiral Vladimirsky.

Intentions of Severnaya Verf to deliver Boiky to the Navy by the end of 2012 were declared by the yard's director Alexander Ushakov on the eve of the company's centenary. In Jan 2012, press service of Baltic Fleet reported about plans to commission the corvette into the fleet in 2012. According to the source, realistic termination date of the ship's trials and commissioning procedures is spring of the next year.

Boiky is the third Project 20380 Stereguschiy-class corvette build by Severnaya Verf shipyard in St. Petersburg.

The corvette was laid down on July 27, 2005 and launched on Apr 15, 2011. The crew settled in the ship in March 2012.
