The new hydrographic ship's launching ceremony commenced at the shipbuilding yard of Blagoveshensk, reports to RIA Novosti, the Pacific Fleet Public Affairs representative. The ship was built under orders from the Pacific Fleet (PF).

"Now, the Amur shipbuilders face the task of installing the navigation, monitoring, electrotechnical systems, all of the ship's machinery, complete the fit out of staterooms and service compartments," - pointed out the agency's representative.

According to him, the new ship, which will be named after the completion of at-sea trials, will be charged with the surveying of the Pacific Ocean's bottom in Russian territorial waters, the seeking out of dangerous shoals and rocks and other hydrographic tasks.

"After the shipbuilders of Blagoveshensk will finish the installation of all of ship's equipment, this Fall, the ship will sail down Amur to the Pacific Ocean and will set course for Primorye, where the at-sea trials will commence and the ship will be accepted by the government. After this, the ship will be entered into the Pacific Fleet's roster." - noted the agency's representative.

In the latter years, pointed out the representative, the Pacific Fleet received a few new auxiliary and combat ships. A new hydrographic ship, named after a famous hydrographer of the Russian Navy, Victor Faleev, was built at the Eastern Shipyard in Vladivostok. In the next few years, the Pacific Fleet will recieve new combat ships, which are currently being built at the shipbuilding companies of Kaliningrad and Komsomolsk-on-Amur.
