Submarine thrown into the Ukrainian Ebmbassy window

07/29/2008
On July 27, Russian Navy Day, the activists of the Eurasian Youth Union conducted an unsanctioned picket near the Ukrainian Embassy in Moscow. As reported in the press-release of the Union, the Embassy building was bombarded with "eggs and models of a nuclear submarine, project 971 "Bars." During the bombardment, "one of the submarines flew into an open window of the Ukrainian Ambassador's office."

It was noted, that this action was conducted in protest of Ukraine's attempts to expell the Black Sea Fleet from the city of Sevastopal as well as the deportation of a Duma representative, Konstatine Zatulin from the territory of Ukraine.

The leader of the Moscow chapter of the Union, Pavel Kanishev, who organized the unsanctioned protest and was responsible for throwing submarines, was detained by law enforcement autorities. The Main Directorate of Internal Affairs confirmed this information to the Interfax agency, adding that three persons were involved in the protest, two of them were able to get away.
