Iran plans to build new naval bases in Gulf of Oman

The Iranian Navy will receive new bases in the Gulf of Oman by 2015, and their construction will be completed by the end of Iran’s fifth five-year socio-economic development plan, said chief Iranian navy commander Rear Admiral Habibollah Sayari.

Iran plans to beef up its presence in the Gulf of Oman, in accordance with its current strategic goals, he added. The official gave no details on the construction of the planned bases.
