Kamchatka submariners receive brand new apartments

02/05/2009
The first multistory building for submariners of the Russian Pacific Fleet has been completed in the city of Viliuchinsk in Kamchatka.

The first 80 apartments have been awarded to members of the command of the Fleet.

The new building, built under a program for the improvement of living conditions and the social infrastructure of Viliuchinsk, is very comfortable and earthquake-proof. The apartments are all furnished and fitted with new plumbing equipment and meters for hot and cold water, as well as heating.

The family of the submariners who have received apartments in the building will soon move in.

In December 2008, a new daycare center for 200 children and some eighty apartments were completed in Viliuchinsk.

As of now, the headquarters of the Fleet, as well as the officers’ and submariner’s clubs, has been refitted. A sport-rehab complex with an aqua park, a swimming pool, two gyms, a cafeteria and bowling alley, a hospital and a school have all been built in Viliuchinsk.
