Northern Fleet marks anniversary of Soviet withdrawal from Afghanistan
02/16/2009The command of the Russian Northern Fleet and the administration of the city of Severomorsk on February 15 marked the 20th anniversary of the withdrawal of Soviet troops from Afghanistan with a solemn ceremony.
Flowers and wreaths were deposited at the grave of the soldier-internationalist at a cemetery in the village of Roslyakovo.
A memorial evening dubbed Courage Forged in Fire, with the participation of the ensemble of the Northern Fleet, took place at the Sudoremontnik cultural center.
