Northern Fleet preparing to meet Defense of Motherland Day
02/20/2009The Russian Northern Fleet has already approved a program of celebrations to mark Defense of the Motherland Day.
The governor of the Murmansk region, Yuri Evdokimov, will receive Northern Fleet servicemen serving at advanced posts today.
Concerts will be held at officers clubs at the Northern Fleet on Sunday. Albina Shulgina’s play "I am close! I am Near! I am here!!" will be staged at the Dramatic Theater of the Northern Fleet.
The main events will take place at the main base of the Northern Fleet in Severomorsk on February 23: wreaths and flowers will be laid at the monument to the Northern Fleet Sailor-hero defender of the North Pole in WWII, and an evening concert will take place at the officers house in Severomorsk. A festive artillery firing will take place in the evening in Murmansk, Severomorsk, and Polyar.
