Rescuers located search area of the ship sunken near Norilsk

Rescuers of EMERCOM along with divers perform flyover of Lake Pyasino in Krasnoyarskiy Krai where the vessel sunk on Sept 20, search area of the ship and the people lost is located, said representative of EMERCOM Krasnoyarskiy Krai branch to RIA Novosti on Wednesday.

The vessel sunk 80 km far frof Norilsk on its way to Cape of Urvantsev for transportation of a barge. During the storm as a consequence of side wave blow the ship overturned. There were 12 men aboard, five of them managed to escape.

"The vessel's search area is defined; the rescuers and divers are presently performing flyover, there are fuel barrels observed on the surface", said the agency's interlocutor.

According to him, the search will be continued until nightfall.

As per the press-service of regional MIA Main Department, the sunken vessel submerged with the people remained on it. Supposedly, seven died.

Representative of EMERCOM has previously said that there were 12 men aboard at the moment of accident – eight were on the deck and four were blocked in the mess-room.

Five sufferers went for the help by boat, the captain along with two men remained on the bottom of overturned vessel to wait for rescuers. After while the ship was submerged.

Lake Pyasino is situated south-west of North Siberian Plain in Taimyr Autonomous District. The lake has glacial origin; its square is 735 sq. km, length is 70 km, extreme width is 15 km, average depth is 4 m.
