First Lada-class subs to be commissioned in 2013 and 2015

10/10/2009
Shipwrights of St. Petersburg shipyard Admiralteyskie Verfi will hand over Lada-class lead submarines to the Navy in 2013 and 2015, said Vladimir Aleksandrov, shipyard's Director General at the press conference in St. Petersburg Central Naval Museum.

Lada-class submarine left Neva harbor today and headed for the south Baltic to conduct final stage of sea trials. The important event in shipyard's production activity was devoted to 65th anniversary of Vladimir Aleksandrov, Hero of Russia and the head of Admiralteyskie Verfi.

According to Director General, main propulsion plant, sonar system and weapons system will be tested during trials. About 130 newest experimental systems were realized in this 4th generation submarine.

Submarines named Kronshtadt and Sevastopol are currently under different phases of construction at the shipyard. They are expected to be commissioned in 2013 and 2015 correspondingly, informs ITAR-TASS.
