Dalzavod shipyard to discharge all employees

10/14/2009
OJSC Dalzavod being one of the largest ship-repairing companies at Far East discharges all its employees.

1165 employees of Dalzavod are to be dismissed within the period of December 1-31, said representative of shipyard's trade union to ITAR-TASS.

Shipyard's administration is developing outplacement program for dismissed employees: part of them will be transferred to other shipyards of Vladivostok, the rest will get job at Sollers's automobile assembly plant which plans to launch automobile production at Dalzavod territory since December.

Dalzavod celebrated its 120th anniversary in 2007 has been suffering financial difficulties for ten years. External supervision over the shipyard started in 2001 and then were bankruptcy proceedings. In 2007 the yard joined holding Far East Center of Shipbuilding and Ship Repair which is the branch of OJSC United Shipbuilding Corporation. Employees many times held protest actions due to salary debts. Future of the shipyard is uncertain.
