Fire occurred at vessel near Azov port is brought under control

Fire occurred Saturday evening on cargo ship in the Sea of Azov is extinguished; there are no sufferers, sailors returned to the ship, told RIA Novosti representative of RF EMERCOM South Branch.

According to him, the fire happened to dry cargo ship Vanadiy was brought under control at 00.17 am Moscow time; the crew has returned to the ship.

Fire-alarm signal was received by "01" dispatch service at 06.50 pm Moscow time. The fire occurred at the sleeping compartment. Sailors had been extinguishing the fire by themselves until the oxygen in scubas was finished. There are 4,000 tonnes of barley on board the Comoros-flagged vessel remaining off the harbor. The 13-man crew was evacuated to an icebreaker.
