Release of two seiners from ice captivity started at Sakhalin

An icebreaker sailed off to the region where two Sakhalin seiners drifted in ice for over a week; it will help vessels to reach open water, reported Friday RIA Novosti referring to director of Farvater Ltd. Alexei Litvinenko, shipowner of the seiners.
On Jan 11 fishing ships MRS-150 299 and MRS-150 314 hailed from Starodubskoe berth to Poronaisk for fishing salmon trout at Terpeniya bay; there were 14 crewmen on board. However, soon both vessels got stuck in ice. Rescue operation was carried out on Jan 19 and the crews were taken off the seiners. Ships were closed down and abandoned until ice situation is improved.
"Icebreaker of Exxon Neftegas Limited sailed off to Terpeniya bay on Thursday; it is followed by rescue ship Atlas with seiners' crews on board. Once they will be delivered to the ships, Atlas will tow vessels to Korsakov port (southern Sakhalin). The ships will stay there till May", said the interviewee.
He mentioned that the rescue operation is a paid service. "The sum of payment will be reported upon the operation is finished", said Mr. Litvinenko.
