Japanese party thanked Sakhalin Coast Guard Dpt (SCGD) for assistance rendered to injured vessel holed Friday as a result of collision with ice floe at the Sea of Okhotsk, reports RIA Novosti citing Irina Shebeko, SCGD Public Relations Service.

"The information that fishing vessel Kitize Maru 31 was damaged after collision with ice was received by Sakhalin Coast Guard Dpt on Jan 29. The message was sent by Japanese maritime safety service", said Mrs. Shebeko.

According to her, patrol ship Chukotka was dispatched to help Japanese vessel suffering distress near cape of Dokuchaevo. The ship escorted injured vessel to Japanese territorial waters.
