Admiralteiskiye Verfi to export two diesel electric subs in Apr

In April shipbuilders of Admiralteiskiye Verfi shipyard (St. Petersburg) plan to deliver two Kilo-class diesel electric submarines (Project 636) built for export.
Such submarines are in great demand at international market, said Vladimir Aleksandrov, Director General of the shipyard. The evidence is purchase order of an Asian country for six subs of the project. The first one is expected to be laid down in autumn.
Competitiveness of such submarines is ensured by high inaudibility, target detection range, control automation, high-speed performance and powerful armament. The shipyard has arranged full-scale production of such subs.
Upgraded Project 636 submarine offered to eventual buyers is armed with missile and torpedo weapons capable to hit sea and land targets. The shipyard considers the marketing prospective for new-gen Amur-class submarines designed by Rubin Central Design Bureau for Marine Engineering.
"All our customers are consentient that submarines built by Admiralteyskie Verfi conform to international standards. Depending on domestic and international market demands, we are capable to construct one or two Kilos per year. After 2015 we will be ready to export Amurs as well", Aleksandrov said.
Admiralteiskiye Verfi shipyard (the branch of Western Shipbuilding Center) has built 300 submarines, including 41 nuclear ones. The shipyard was established in 1704. Through more than three centuries it has constructed about 2,500 surface warships and submarines, merchant and research vessels.
