Official call of Turkish warships to Novorossiysk

Task unit of Turkish warships led by Capt Azmi Tosun, 1st Flotilla Commander is sailing towards the Hero City of Novorossiysk; the unit consists of frigates TCG Fatih and TCG Beycoz, reports Black Sea Fleet press service.

The greeting ceremony of foreign warships to be held on Apr 9 at the harbor station; representatives of Naval Base Novorossiysk (NBN) and city administration will also attend. After bilateral coordination meeting on ships security, the task unit commander will pay social visits to the city mayor and senior naval officer – NBN Commander.

The visit program includes military honors to defenders of Novorossiysk in the time of WW2; associated ritual with participation of Russian and Turkish mariners will be held in the second day of the visit. Then a defile concert of NBN brass band will be given to base command and Turkish guests.

Turkey's Ambassador to Russia Halil Akinci will also attend activities of the visit.

On Apr 12 Turkish task unit will finish its visit to Novorossiysk.

Another Turkish detachment will call at Sevastopol today; the unit consists of frigate Barbaros and diesel submarine Yildiray. Call and lashing of the ships are planned at harbor station; on Apr 12 Turkish task unit will finish its visit to Sevastopol.

Turkish warships will simultaneously stay at Russian and Ukrainian ports. They will also participate in BLACKSEAFOR activation.
