Georgian officials are not invited in Moscow to take part in festivities on the occasion of 65th anniversary of the Victory, although Georgian veterans and public members are planned to participate, informed PRIME-TASS citing Andrei Nesterenko, spokesman for Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA).

"In the absence of diplomatic relations between the two countries, Georgian officials will not be invited in Moscow to attend festivities of the Victory Day", he said.

Alongside with that the MFA official brought to notice that "we plan to host veterans from Georgia same as from other former Soviet republics to take part in Victory Parade on May 9 in Moscow". Besides, "probable participation of Georgian public members is being considered", he added.

We recall that two monuments to victims of the Great Patriotic War have been demolished in the past months in Georgia – on the initiative of Adzharia local authorities, the monument to soldiers died in the Great Patriotic War was taken down in January; previously "Memorial of the Glory" was blasted. Moscow has multiply expressed its concern of contempt against the memory of died warriors shown by Georgian authorities.
