Carrying out tasks of long-range cruise, Black Sea Fleet (BSF) flagship Guard missile cruiser Moskva passed through the Red Sea and reached the Gulf of Aden, reports Tuesday BSF Information Support Group.

"Instructions on contingency and arms usage procedures were given to the crew in connection with sailing through piracy hazardous zone; firing drills were conducted as well", says the release.

The personnel were informed about environment in the region. Sailors were told about pirates' tactics and measures taken by international community and Russia to secure civil shipping in this region.

A shipborne damage control drill was carried out in accordance with the cruise schedule; air defense drill was also performed.

At the BSF flagship great attention is given to crew's leisure and sports activities. Marines demonstrated master-class in hand-to-hand combat. At the weekend there was a weight lifting contest; 10 teams with 100 sailors took part in the competition, including cadets of naval colleges.
