Pacific Fleet (PF) large ASW ship Marshal Shaposhnikov after replenishment at sea will start patrol mission at the Gulf of Aden, reported RIA Novosti referring to Capt 1 rank Roman Martov, PF official representative.

Tanker Moscow University safely arrived to UAE

On May 6 Marshal Shaposhnikov freed Liberian-flagged tanker Moscow University with 23 Russian sailors on board hijacked by pirates in the Gulf of Aden. The vessel was carrying 86,000 tons of oil from the Red Sea to China. As a result of release operation no crewmembers were suffered, ten pirates were arrested and then let off, one was killed.
"Presently, Marshal Shaposhnikov is near Socotra Island replenishing water, food and fuel supplies from tanker Pechenga", Martov said.
Once replenishment is finished, the Russian warship will form subsequent convoy to escort through security corridor towards Bab-el-Mandeb Strait.
Meanwhile, tanker Moscow University safely reached a port in United Arab Emirates, reported official representative of Novorossiysk Shipping Company (the tanker's shipowner).
"In UAE the tanker's crew will eliminate insignificant damages obtained in the brief seizure", said the interviewee.
According to him, the ship is in seaworthy condition, the crew is alive and well.
"Then the vessel will proceed the cruise in accordance with freighter's requirements", said the shipowner's representative.
