Russian sailor apprehended in Hong Kong will be released only after payment of penalty, reports RIA Novosti referring to representative of Russian Consulate General.

Russian sailor arrested in Hong Kong will be fined

The amount of fine was not reported. According to the official, the sailor "just rollicked a bit" and all happened to him is "a standard consequence". He was arrested in the evening May 25 for breaking rules of conduct on board the plane flied from Taipei to Hong Kong.
Russian citizen Alexander Panasiuk, traveling from Taipei to Vladivostok via Hong Kong and Seoul was brought to police station and then to a hospital. He was under influence of liquor on board the plane.
Reportedly, his case will be adjudged by local court. In this connection, Far East regional branch of Russian Guild of Sailors (RGS) requested International Transport Workers Federation in Hong Kong to provide Mr. Panasiuk with a lawyer familiar with marine issues. It is not reported whether the sailor needed lawyer's services.
