New Russian development – Club-K missile system firstly introduced in Apr 2010 at defense show in Malaysia – looks like a common freight container. The new system is inconspicuous, quite compact and easy-to-carry, although capable to turn an ordinary civil ship into a threat to enemy's destroyers and aircraft carriers within a couple of hours.

Russian Club-K missile system is "hidden" in freight container

"We market this system not as a guerrilla weapon to be hidden and quietly used from behind the cover. The system is designed for those countries which need rapid response for potential aggression", reported RIA Novosti citing Rostislav Atkov, representative of Russian developing company.
Club-K container missile system which costs about $15 mln is used for hitting sea and ground surface targets by missiles 3M-54TE, 3M-54TE1, and 3M-14TE. The system can be based at coastal positions, ships, railway and automotive platforms. The system is placed in standard 40-foot shipping container and armed with lifting launcher for 4 missiles.
"Antiship missile flies major part of trajectory at subsonic speed and shoots off warhead stage 20 km ahead of a target. This stage accelerates up to 3 machs; this is extremely high speed. It is almost impossible to intercept such missile", summarized Atkov.
