Group of Russian military experts which is currently in S Korea investigating the circumstances of corvette Cheonan shipwrecked in the Yellow Sea has examined fragments of the ship and torpedo which allegedly destroyed the ship, informed RIA Novosti referring to S Korean defense ministry.

According to the ministry, Russian experts had started their inquiry two days ago and visited naval base Pyeongtaek where fragments of the ship are stored. So far they couldn't examine the incident site southward Baengnyeong Island; Pyongyang considers waters around Baengnyeong Island as N Korean territory.

According to the inquiry of international commission convened by Seoul, corvette Cheonan was torpedoed by a N Korean submarine. Pyongyang says those findings has been "cooked up" and refuses to recognize them. South Korea is about to address to UN Security Council insisting on international conviction of DPRK.

Details of Russian experts' stay in S Korea have not been disclosed so far.

"But they ask lots of questions", pointed out the source.

China was also offered to send its investigators, although they will unlikely arrive to Seoul. According to S Korean military officials, Seoul understands Beijing's position considering its relations with Pyongyang.
