JSC Admiralteyskie Verfi shipyard will deliver deep-sea submersible Consul to Russian Navy till the end of 2010. According to the shipyard's press service, the bathyscaph is presently being tested in the Baltic Sea where she has carried out dozens of dives at different depths. Presumably, the submersible will pass trials in the Atlantic Ocean off Azores Archipelago.

The bathyscaph was developed by Malakhit design bureau in St. Petersburg. Length of the submersible is 8 meters; beam and height is 3.9 meters; weight is 25 tons; speed is 3 knots. The hull is made of titanium alloys. The bathyscaph is equipped with bottom sampling facilities.

We recall that it was previously planned to deliver Consul to the orderer by the end of 2009.

JSC Admiralteyskie Verfi is specialized in designing, production, and upgrading of civil vessels as well as building warships. Through three centuries, shipyards of Admiralteyskie Verfi have built over 2,600 vessels.
