Large ASW ship Severomorsk and frigate KNM Otto Sverdrup will call at Northern Fleet (NF) main base Severomorsk on June 12 after termination of joint Russian-Norwegian exercise Pomor 2010.

The exercise is held in June 7-11 in the Norwegian and the Barents seas. Surface ships, naval aviation, and submarine simulator take part in the exercise.

The crews trained a wide range of important tasks on communications, maneuvering, navigation, and cooperative use of arms upon various targets. Also, they practiced rescue and vessel-checking operations as well as prevented "terrorists" from capturing oil platform.

Helicopter pilots of Northern Fleet and Norwegian Navy conducted "deck exchange" (helicopters landed on the deck of the partner's ship).

Severomorsk and Otto Sverdrup held exchange of personnel. Every morning 5 men from each ship boarded the partner's vessel; they familiarized with service and daily activities, observed execution of the exercise stages and went back in the evening. That helped mariners to know each other better for effective cooperation in the future.

According to program of the official call, Norwegian sailors will go sightseeing over Severomorsk and Murmansk. The guests will attend Northern Fleet Aviation Museum and play soccer game with team of large ASW ship Severomorsk. Both ships will be opened for public.
