Administration of St. Petersburg and United Shipbuilding Corporation (USC) signed today an agreement at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum 2010; the agreement provides transfer of Admiralteyskie Verfi shipyard's capacities from Novo-Admiralteisky Island which is the city's historic part to Kronshtadt.

As was explained by Governor of St. Petersburg Valentina Matvienko after subscription, thank to moving of Admiralteyskie Verfi shipyard the city would obtain somewhat 17 hectares to build residential, commercial, and social objects; the shipyard in its turn would gain an opportunity to increase productive and logistic effectiveness.
Transfer of the yard to Kronshtadt will be carried out in several steps. First, a new bridge over Neva River will be constructed in St. Petersburg connecting Vasilievsky and Novo-Admiralteisky islands to improve transportation, and then a new yard will be built in Kronshtadt. Only scientific and engineering buildings of Admiralteyskie Verfi will remain at the same site.
President of USC Roman Trotsenko assured that the moving would not affect the shipyard's production process.
"As of today, Admiralteyskie Verfi is 100 per cent workloaded, the 6-year production program has been formed and will be executed. We need to renovate production and develop a new technological cycle", said the head of USC after subscription.
According to Trotsenko, it is planned to perform transfer to Kronshtadt within 6-8 years; that will need about 20 bln RUR. Moving of defense-oriented assets will be subsidized by municipal budget; Governor of St. Petersburg promised all income from sale of the shipyard's former land would be assigned to the moving process. The transfer of commercial shipbuilding element will be subsidized by Vnesheconombank, Trotsenko said.
