Pacific Fleet Commander Konstantin Sidenko was promoted a rank of Admiral, reported RIA Novosti referring to a source in Pacific Fleet HQ.

Sidenko has become the first and yet the only commander of one out of four Russia's fleets obtained a rank of three-star admiral since 2008 when military reforms started. The rest fleet commanders Alexander Kletskov (Black Sea Fleet), Viktor Chirkov (Baltic Fleet), and Nikolai Maksimov (Northern Fleet) are Vice Admirals.

"The decree awarding Sidenko a rank of Admiral was issued in June", said the PF representative.

In Russian Armed Forces, a commander can serve in a rank of Vice Admiral (General Lieutenant) till the age of 55, in a rank of Admiral (General Colonel) till the age of 60.
