The submarine was laid down on February 23, 1982 at Leninsky Komsomol Shipyard (Komsomolsk-on-Amur) under the name of B-227; launched on September 16, 1982; commissioned into Pacific Fleet in April 1983; transferred to Baltic Fleet in October 1985. The sub obtained the name of Vyborg in July 2008 when she was taken under patronage of Vyborg town administration.PERFORMANCE
