K-506 Zelenograd is a Project 667BDR Calmar nuclear-powered ballistic missile submarine (SSBN).
REGISTRATION
Pacific Fleet, ViliuchinskCONSTRUCTION, NAME
The submarine was laid down on December 29, 1975 at Sevmash shipyard (Severodvinsk) under the name of K-506; launched on January 26, 1978; commissioned into Northern Fleet on January 24, 1979; transferred to Pacific Fleet on November 10, 1981. The sub obtained the name of Zelenograd on September 15, 1998 when Zelenograd city administration took her under patronage.MILESTONES
On Nov 16, 1983 the sub was registered in the Honor List of best Soviet units and ships.In 1990 the submarine won the Navy Commander's Prize for missile firings.
In 2008 SSBN Zelenograd launched ballistic missile R-29R.
Decommissioned from Russian Navy in 2010.
