Danish frigate HMDS Thetis and Russia's Baltic Fleet corvette Stereguschiy will hold an exercise in the Gulf of Finland, said Danish Navy commander Rear Admiral Hansen in exclusive interview to Central Navy Portal.
As a host ship securing the visit of Danish Queen Margrethe II to Russia, corvette Stereguschiy will escort the royal yacht and frigate HMDS Thetis to the border of Russian territorial waters in accordance to international traditions. During that brief trip, warships of the two countries will conduct joint maneuvering and communications drills.
According to RADM Hansen, Royal Danish Navy has an experience of cooperation with Russian Navy, including such restless region as the Gulf of Aden where Russian and Danish warships maintain security of commercial shipping. "We're pleased to interact with Russian mariners and hope our cooperation will strengthen", said the Danish admiral in the interview to Central Navy Portal.
