Three Pacific Fleet (PF) ships on June 13 left Vladivostok for Hawaii to participate in the RIMPAC-2012 joint naval exercise, reports Interfax.

Active phase of the maneuvers kicks off on July 11 and will last till Aug 2. The exercise will be attended by 45 ships from 23 countries. According to Eastern Military District Press Service, Russian Navy will be represented by destroyer Admiral Panteleyev, replenishment tanker Boris Butoma, and seagoing rescue ship Fotiy Krylov.

The RIMPAC exercise is held since 1971. Originally, there were only American, Canadian, Australian, and British ships who took part in the exercise at the time. This year Russian Navy was invited for the first time.
