Russian President met Minister of Defense Anatoly Serdiukov

Russian President met Minister of Defense Anatoly Serdiukov 09.10.2009
Issues of new weaponry procurement and housebuilding for military servicemen were discussed at the meeting between Dmitry Medvedev and Anatoly Serdiukov held yesterday, on Oct 8.

In particular, Minister of Defense said: "Speaking about the Navy, we could not purchase anything additional, unfortunately. We have only advanced construction date of frigates on two years, from 2014 to 2012".

According to A. Serdiukov, finishing dates of planned interim overhauls were advanced: Project 949 Voronezh submarine – from 2011 on 2010, Project 945 Pskov and Project 949 Tomsk submarine – from 2010 on 2009.

It was noted again that the funds released by cost reduction of weaponry repair was redirected on "final samples" procurement.

"The matter is 26 bln rub withdrawn from funds of not top-priority weapons repair and sent for overhaul of most necessary samples", reported the minister to the President.
