Ukrainian marines hold firings in Crimea, first in 2011 19.01.2011

Ukrainian marines conduct small arms and armored personnel carriers' firings in Crimea for the first time in 2011; they also participate in peacekeeping tactical exercise.

The first field training in 2011 was carried out by a marine company of 1st independent marine battalion. The activity started with a briefing, giving out materiel and equipment, and movement from basing site to marine training center.

According to representative of coastal defense training center Col. Igor Krasota, during field exercise marines will carry out small arms and armored personnel carriers' firings, and conduct peacekeeping tactical exercise. Totally, it is planned to hold 12 drills and firings.

Another marine company will carry out analogous field exercise soon. Training of servicemen is conducted under general command of marine battalion deputy commander Maj. Viktor Baraniuk.
