Iran steps up naval presence in the Caspian Sea

Fleet minesweeper Vilayet will be delivered to Iranian naval force stationed in the Caspian Sea in the nearest days, reports ISNA referring to Iranian Navy Deputy Commander.
According to him, fleet minesweeper Vilayet is an altered version of Jamaran ship modernized with new systems and technologies.
Light frigate Jamaran (on Iran's classification – destroyer) was delivered to Iranian Navy in Feb 2010.
News agency FARS called it "the biggest defense project". Jamaran is designed for antisubmarine/antisurface/antiaircraft warfare. In addition, the ship is capable to accommodate a deck-based helicopter. Jamaran can be used for electronic warfare as well.
