Tehran declared it would retaliate upon the US in case of aggression, reports Reuters referring to Masoud Jazayeri, a member of Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps.

According to Jazayeri, in case of being attacked, Iran would carry out devastating retaliation. By the way, this regards not only forces deployed in the Persian Gulf or Middle East; none of American towns will escape retaliation, Jazayeri said. However, Teheran is not about to deliver first strike, he stated.

The US and some other Western countries have a suspicion that Iran develops nuclear weapons under the guise of peaceful atomic power generation programs. Tehran denies these charges saying nuclear program is aimed only at power supply needs. At present, four UN Security Council resolutions are acting towards Iran. The country is wanted to make its nuclear program transparent and prove its peaceful orientation.
