Newest electronics installed on Iranian frigates

30.09.2009
New Iranian state-of-the-art missile frigates are equipped with the newest systems, said Rear Admiral Habibulla Sayyari, Iranian Navy Commander.

"Technical facilities will be used if threats against Islamic Republic of Iran appear", said Sayyari to journalists during launch ceremony of sequent Sina-type missile frigate.

"Iran has achieved full self-sufficiency in shipbuilding and production of maritime equipment to act in surface and underwater environments", added the Admiral.

In June 2008 Iran declared commission of domestically produced submarine Ghadir-948 in 1st maritime zone brigade.

In November the sub started patrolling mission.

The submarine is equipped with all facilities necessary for target detection and defeat by missiles and torpedoes, say Iranian military officials.

It took 10 years to construct the submarine, but it is supplied only with Iranian-made equipment, added Admiral Sayyari.
