100 thousandth takeoff from USS Nimitz

100 thousandth takeoff from USS Nimitz aircraft carrier (CVN 68) was performed on Oct 7, says defense-aerospace.com referring to US Navy official website. This honor was given to EA-6B Prowler aircraft of VAQ 135 launched by catapult #1.

Nimitz carrier strike group led by Rear Admiral John W. Miller consists of aircraft carrier Nimitz with CVW 11 aboard, DESRON 23 (Destroyer Squadron 23) and cruiser USS Chosin (CG65) of Ticonderoga-class. DESRON 23 comprises destroyers USS Pinckney (DDG 91), USS Sampson (DDG 102) and frigate USS Rentz (FFG 46).

CVW 11 includes strike fighter squadrons VFA 41"Black Aces", VFA 14 "Tophatters", VFA 97 "Warhawks", VFA 86 "Sidewinders", Helicopter Anti-Submarine Squadron 6 "Indians", Electronic Attack Squadron 135 "Black Ravens", Fleet Logistics Support Squadron 30 "Providers" and Carrier Airborne Command and Control Squadron 117 "Wallbangers".

Helicopter teams include antisubmarine HSL 37 "Easy Riders", HSL 43 "Battle Cats", HSL 45 "Wolfpack", HSL 49 "Scorpions" and Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron 23 "Wildcards". Nimitz carrier strike group is followed by Explosive Ordnance Disposal Mobile Unit 11 and fast combat support ship USNS Bridge (T-AOE 10).
