Ukraine's naval aviation brigade trained in flights and parachuting
03.04.2010
Scheduled flights and parachuting were trained this week in Saki Naval Aviation Brigade headed by Col. Vladimir Khomenko.
According to Ukrainian Navy Deputy Commander for naval aviation Col. Vasily Chernenko who personally observed the flights, all tasks given to brigade were fully completed.
Basically, those tasks were improving piloting techniques during training flights, training pilots as instructors and probation as flight directors.
It should be noted that young naval pilots graduated in 2009 have started training flights as helicopter navigators of Mi-14 and Ka-27.
In total, pilots of the brigade have carried out over 30 flights on aircrafts An-2, Be-12, An-26 and on helicopters Mi-14 and Ka-27.
Besides, airborne personnel of Saki Naval Aviation Brigade have successfully performed 20 parachute jumps from An-2 aircraft.
Col. Vasily Chernenko estimated flight support conducted by management group as excellent.
Next week aircraft of Saki brigade will take part in search and rescue assistance of command ship Slavutich sailing from Sevastopol to Turkish naval base Eregli; the ship will participate in subsequent BLACKSEAFOR activation.
