Germany could help Ukraine in equipping new corvette 28.05.2010

Ukrainian and German military officials discussed possibility of Germany's assistance in equipping new Ukrainian corvette, reports Ukrainian Navy Press Service.

Meeting between German and Ukrainian working groups is associated with Germany's Defense Industry Day and held on board frigate FGS Niedersachsen which had arrived to Sevastopol on Thursday paying unofficial visit.

"The parties consider capabilities of German defense industry and prospects for cooperation with Ukrainian Navy on installation of arms and tactical data system on board new Ukrainian warship. Within the framework of the meeting, Ukrainian mariners familiarize with similar weapons and data systems of the German warship", said the press release of Ukrainian defense ministry.

Visit of the German frigate to Sevastopol will be finished on May 31.
