Northern Fleet (NF) rescue ship SB-523 returned to the fleet's main base Severomorsk after termination of the Barents-2011 joint naval exercise.

NF rescuers took part in "accident" elimination in the Varangerfjord waters; according to the exercise scenario, the breakdown happened to a Russian fishing vessel. Experts of NF Search and Rescue Service found the "distressed" ship, arranged rescuing of people overboard (mockups), took them aboard and rendered medical aid.

The cruise commander – NF Rescue Ship Brigade Acting Commander Capt 2 rank Andrei Filiuntsev – said the crew of SB-523 had coped with all tasks successfully. Masterfully acting at sea, NF rescuers again proved their readiness and ability to perform any tasks, including those along with Norwegian counterparts.
