In accordance with the list of new government approved by the president on May 21, Anatoly Serdiukov continues holding his post of Russian Defense Minister.

Curriculum vitae

Anatoly E. Serdiukov was born on Jan 8, 1962 in Kholmsky, Krasnodar region. In 1984 he graduated from Leningrad Institute of Soviet Trade and achieved specialty of economist. In 2001 he graduated from St. Petersburg State University and achieved specialty of lawyer. Serdiukov is Doctor of Economics and 1-st Class State Advisor.

On Feb 15 2007 Serdiukov was appointed defense minister. He became the first fully civilian defense minister in Russia. In 2007 he graduated from special training course of the General Staff Military Academy.

Since 2007 he heads the CIS Defense Ministers' Council and is a permanent member of Russian Security Council.

Married, has a son and two daughters.
