Delivery of helicopter carriers Mistral to Russia is a France's distinct policy decision, said French president Nikolas Sarkozy. He voiced this position during talks with Georgian president Mikhail Saakashvili in Paris.

As was reported by Elysee summarizing the meeting, France counts on Russia as a partner in all areas including security and defense, and intends to build partnership relations. This is France's distinct policy decision, said Sarkozy talking with Georgian leader.

According to press service of the French president, Saakashvili made no secret of his concern, although said he understood the logical course of official Paris. At the same time he expressed hope in France's support. In his turn, Nikolas Sarkozy called Saakashvili to proceed with modernization of the country as it is the best security guarantee.
