The ship was laid down on January 4, 1985 at Peene-Werft shipyard (Wolgast, GDR); launched on December 28, 1985; commissioned on October 2, 1987 under the name of MPK-205. The ship obtained the name of Kazanets in 1998 as Republic of Tatarstan took patronage over her.MILESTONES
