Black Sea Fleet is ready to secure Abkhazian cargoes 05.10.2009
Ships of Black Sea Fleet have not been assigned a mission to escort cargo ships heading for Abkhazia in neutral waters yet. On the other hand, Black Sea Fleet is ready to accomplish any mission to secure maritime traffic in its responsibility zone, underlined military officials.

According to Interfax, Russian Minister of Foreign Affairs Sergei Lavrov said after talks with Abkhazian president Sergei Bagapsh that "securing of cargo delivery to Abkhazia by sea is essential to avoid provocations from Georgian Navy.

The source in Russian MoD underlined that actions of Black Sea Fleet ships on securing maritime traffic in neutral waters do not break any international agreements and treaties.
