Former commander of a military unit was found guilty of covering a crime committed by his subordinates, reports Crimea.Comments news agency referring to a spokesman for Ukrainian Navy Military Procuracy.

In 2010, two servicemen of the unit stole 28 electric cable drums to the overall sum of over UAH 7,700.

During the next attempt to steal military property, the thieves were caught. The unit commander was immediately informed on that, although suppressed that fact.

"Legally, in case of a crime committed by subordinates, a military unit commander must initiate criminal case and report to higher command and judge advocate", explained Ukrainian Navy Press Center.

Sevastopol regional court imposed a fine on the ex-commander.
