NF large ASW ship Vice Admiral Kulakov to start sea trials 13.01.2010
Northern Fleet's (NF) large ASW ship Vice Admiral Kulakov will start sea trials on January 18.

In 2000 Vice Admiral Kulakov was transferred from Kronshtadt shipyard where it had stayed for 10 years in expectation of repair to Severnaya Verf shipyard (St. Petersburg). In Dec 2009 Svetlana Yermolaeva, the head of public relations department of Severnaya Verf reported that overhaul and modernization had been almost completed, the ship had passed docking and mooring trials. However, it appeared impossible to start sea trials due to the fire occurred at the ship's stores. One man suffered.

Vice Admiral Kulakov is a Project 1155 large ASW ship.

CONSTRUCTION, NAME

The ship was laid down on November 4, 1977 at Zhdanov Shipyard (now called Severnaya Verf Shipyard) in Leningrad; launched on May 16, 1980; commissioned on February 9, 1982.

MILESTONES

The ship visited Havana (Cuba) in November 3-7, 1988.

Two-shaft, 4 gas turbines, 61,000 shp (2 x 8,000 shp cruising gas turbines GTU M-70 and 2 x 22,500 shp boost gas turbines GTU M-8KF)

6-26 mines
8 Kinzhal SAM systems (64 missiles)
1 coupled 100-mm artillery gun AK-100
4 x 6-barreled 30-mm machineguns AK-630M

2 Ka-27 helicopters.
